Presentation Learning Center (CA)

In collaboration with San Miguel Parish in Watts, Califorinia, the Center’s mission is to empower and liberate the poor, especially through education.
Nano Nagle’s spirit is very much alive at the center through the Presentation Sisters and the many volunteers who minister there.

Presentation Sisters Learning Center opened in 2000.

Now the Presentation Sisters Learning Center boasts some 1500 U.S. citizens, and hundreds of adults who have completed various levels of study. Providing babysitting while parents attend class is an important service offered by our program. Courses offered include:

  • English
  • U.S. History
  • Citizenship Preparation
  • Computer Skills
  • G.E.D. Preparation
  • Zumba & Tai-chi
  • Parenting Skills
  • Nutrition
  • Crafts and Sewing
  • Prayer & Scripture

Our Mission

To provide a caring community where adults, many of whom are immigrants transitioning into a new culture, can participate in the educational opportunities in their neighborhood.

Our Goals

To build community, increase literacy, empower students to acquire employment or better jobs, promote communication within the family, improve family health-care, promote self-esteem in the students and help them appreciate their contribution to the church and their civic community.

Our 2021 Graduates

A show of resilience…Despite the abrupt closure in March 2020 due to COVID-19 and transitioning to zoom classes last August, the Presentation Learning Center still produced quite a number of people who became American citizens, got their GED, or successfully completed higher English and Math. They also donated their knitted and crocheted lap blankets and scarves to the local nursing home. Congratulations to our newest graduates!
